Prep Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins
Serves: 20

Ingredients

410g Tinned apples in juice
225g Raisins
50ml Water
500g McDougalls Sponge Mix
Pinch of cinnamon

For the topping:
50g McDougalls Plain flour
25g Butter
15g Oats
30g Demerara sugar
Pinch of cinnamon

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
2. Place the apples and juice into a bowl fitted with a whisk attachment. Add the water, raisins and mix the apples for one minute to break them up.
3. Add the McDougalls Sponge Mix and cinnamon and mix on slow speed for one minute. Scrape down and mix on medium speed for four minutes. Add a little extra water if the batter is too stiff.
4. Pour the mix into a greased tin.
5. Place the flour into a bowl and rub in the butter until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle the crumble over the sponge.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through.
7. Cool and then portion into slices.

Additional Tips

As an alternative to apples, you can also use peaches or frozen soft fruit to add variety to your menu
