Entries open for Bisto Care Caterer of the Year 2019
We have begun our hunt for the next Bisto Care Caterer of the Year in conjunction with Country Range. Back for a second year, the competition aims to recognise and reward culinary talent from care homes across the UK. As well as taking home the prestigious title, there is £1000 as the main prize for the care home as well as £250 in John Lewis Vouchers for the winning chef.
What’s the brief?
The brief for the competition is to create a main course which includes a Bisto product and a dessert dish using a Country Range dessert product. Chefs should ensure the total budget for the main and dessert does not exceed £2.25. Once the dishes have been cooked-up chefs should complete the entry form below and submit their recipes including pictures of both the main course and dessert. The deadline for entries is the 2nd August 2019 and then four finalists will be selected and revealed by Friday 9th August. Finalists will be invited to cook their dishes in a live final at our head office on 12th September 2019.

Last year, Juliana Martins Pinto from Cuffley Manor was crowned the winner of this competition. Her delicious menu course was Chicken Ballotine stuffed with spinach and mushroom. After taking the title she said: ““I’m so delighted to have been crowned the winner of this new competition. The quality of the dishes produced by the other finalists was so high. It was so nice to see that tasty food which is presented well is being served at care homes up and down the country.”
Sarah Robb, foodservice marketing manager for Premier Foods added: “There is so much talent in the care catering world with many chefs showing their passion for cooking up nutritious but delicious food. Budgets are tight in this sector but the standard of food we saw in the competition last year was unbelievable, showcasing the true talent that’s in this sector of hospitality. We can’t wait to see entries come in and to put four more talented care caterers into the spotlight.”

Terms and conditions:
Open to professional caterers aged 18+ who are residents in UK and are employed or work as a caterer for a care home in GB. To enter, follow the instructions above. Entries sent by email or post must be received by 5pm on Friday 2 August 2019 (the “Closing Time”). Max 1 entry per person. Main meal must include one qualifying Bisto foodservice products (see full T&Cs pdf for list of qualifying products) and the dessert must include one qualifying Country Range foodservice product (see full T&Cs pdf for list of qualifying products). Ingredients for each dish must not exceed £2.25. Entries must include the recipes and photographs of the dishes, [the cooking & preparation method and list of equipment used. Please seek employers’ permission. 4 finalists will be selected by a panel of judges. Finalists will cook in a live final on Thursday 12 September 2019 where one winner will be selected by a panel of judges. Finalists and winner will be selected using the criteria set out in the T&Cs.
