And the winner of the Public Sector Cost Sector Catering Award is…Mark Taylor from Premier Foods

At a glittering awards ceremony held at the Hilton Metropole in London on Thursday 25th April, our Foodservice customer controller, Mark Taylor was announced as the winner of the Public Sector Award. It was an amazing evening with the biggest names in foodservice there to celebrate a fabulous industry.

Joining Mark in the shortlist was Dale Wild from Birmingham City Council, Stewart McKenzie, at Hospital Caterers Association, Nicola Strawther who works for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and John Figgins at West Sussex County Council. It was a tough category to be in and an inspiring achievement to be recognised as the winner.

Mark was presented the award for his hard work in the cost sector catering industry where he has shown true commitment to care catering. He has worked with the NACC at both a national and regional level since 2012 and was heavily involved in the launch and development of the Level 2 Specialist Award for chefs in health and social care. At Premier Foods, Mark has been actively leading a number of initiatives within care catering, including the latest addition to our ground-breaking healthcare solutions programme: The International Dysphagia Diet Standards Initiative guide and training.

There were 18 categories in the awards and Cost Sector Catering brought together leading industry figures to help whittle down the 139 entries.

After picking up the award, Mark Taylor said: “When I found out I had been shortlisted, I was so shocked but to win against such tough competition is just an incredible feeling. When they said my name, I had to just pause for a second to take it all in but I’m feeling so honoured right now. I’ve worked in the industry for over 30 years and still love my job every day, awards like this are the icing on the cake. It’s been an amazing evening where I’ve seen many deserving industry friends pick up awards and we’ve celebrated in style. All of the finalists and winners are doing a fantastic job and I think it’s brilliant that Cost Sector Catering magazine puts the spotlight on this sector of hospitality.”
