Father’s Day

This year, Father’s Day is on Sunday 16th June and is one of the busiest times of the year for pubs and restaurants. Make the most of this occasion by updating your menu offering and trying out some new recipes that are bound to impress.

A special Father’s Day Menu will appeal to existing diners looking for something different, as well as encouraging new customers to visit. Make sure you use menu boards inside and outside where possible and even table talkers to advertise your offering, with enticing menu descriptors. Make the most of the day being a Sunday and try serving a range of traditional British roast dinners, pies and casseroles that are sure to be a hit with Dads. With the British summer taking its time to arrive, it’s a good idea to keep some hearty dishes on the menu, however, if the sun does happen to shine why not offer some lighter options such as salads, bbq skewers, or an Asian-inspired stir-fry which would be perfect when dining al fresco.

The pie can be made with a variety of pastries, including, puff, short or suet and you can add a whole variety of ingredients, such as kidney, various types of mushroom, herbs, different types of ale and onion. The trick to a great steak pie is ensuring the meat is cooked well and the finished gravy is rich and flavoursome; Bisto bouillon does this as it flavours as it tenderises, allowing a rich flavour to penetrate deep into the meat.

Ideal as a starter, as part of a sharing platter or main course, marinade pork ribs for between 4 and 12 hours in Sharwood’s Honey & Ginger Sauce. Simply braise in the oven for a little over an hour and serve with extra sauce for dipping.

This recipe for a Sunday favourite uses English Mustard and Maple Syrup to season the beef and red wine, shallots and Bisto Gravy is combined to create a delicious sauce. For perfect Yorkshire puddings, try using our McDougalls batter mix for consistent results time after time.
